Indie Updates: 413 Content Too Large

Better feature planning, updates around product deliverables.

Today, I realized that I made a critical mistake in selecting features for my MudQuest project. With just 30 days left before my deadline, the project has grown far too large and is packed with features that don’t align with my original vision. I’ve definitely lost track of my focus, and I didn’t anticipate it becoming this overwhelming.

So today, I’ve decided to cut many features and laser-focus on one main goal: a real-time event finder. I already have several digital capabilities I can reuse, and I will drop anything unnecessary or overly complex.

Here’s the bare minimum I should have been focusing on all along:

  • Real-time offroad parties – These are not planned events but live, ongoing offroad meetups. For example, if I’m at an OHV park and want to join a group, I can either open a party and wait for others to join or search on the map for existing parties and join them. The party will move with the host, showing its live location.

  • Authentication – Sign in via email or Facebook.

  • Simple profile page – Basic user details.

  • Party view – Displays a list of participants and key party details.

  • Live participant tracking – When users join a party, they will be visible to each other on the map.

That’s it. I can still realistically accomplish this, and it stays true to my original vision: a real-time off-road party finder!
